McAlester Regional Health Center Parking

No emergency room handicapped parking, bathroom doors well above legal limits on pull, most of the handicapped stalls are too small, counters are too high at front and most nurses stations. The Handicapped buttons to open the doors most are damaged and don't work.

Pittsburg County Court House

Parking is illegal (Supposed to be the closest spots to the main one and they use the business's next doors spaces in an alley), The door with the ramp for handicapped access is almost always locked and if you cant send someone in you cant get in.

All of the Antique Stores

(with the exception of Dancing Rabbit) (narrow isles at dancing rabbit) (these are from memory since none of them can be access by someone in a wheelchair) No parking spaces, no ramps, narrow doors, narrow isles filled with junk,

Isles too narrow, lets face it its so packed with junk you cant even get half way into the store, no turn around spots.

Wal-Mart

Half their handicapped parking is on the far side of the building where as they block the sidewalk with buggies and force you into traffic to get inside the store, No handicapped parking by the automotive dept (ever try dropping a ramp on a van when they park vehicles right next to you/????). Pharmacy drop off counter well above height requirements

Strip mall at 200 block of Chickasaw

Location of spaces to ramps, ramps too steep, most of the doors are beyond the pull limit to open.

The handicapped parking is ontop of the ramp and at the far end of the store, some isles are too narrow

Salvation Army Thrift Store

no handicapped parking spaces, doors too narrow, too much stuff in the isles

Alamo Liquor Store

No handicapped parking, no ramp, Also the city doesnt have any curb cuts on that street

Ramp too narrow, turn around spot at door too small, door to hard to open.

Best Western

1 parking space that is not a van acceissble spot (in other words too narrow), the wheel chair ramp has a Piller in the middle of it and is centered on the handicapped parking space, the only handicapped room has a 4 inch step up into the room and no ramp, the room has too much junk in it, the bathroom is too small and the handicapped rails in the shower and beside the commode are too small and too far forward to actually be useful, the door on the bathroom open the wrong direction so you are either trapped or can not get into the bathroom, the sink/counter is too high

McAlester Veterinary Clinic

No Handicapped parking (had a 4 inch curb you have to climb just to get to his parking my van draggs), Ramp is Way tooooo steep ( about a 1 inch up to 6 inch out ratio)

No Curb Cuts at D street and Carl Albert (sidewalk is in such a state of disrepair a manual chair wouldnt make it)

Mcalester Housing Authority at Chickasaw by L'Overture

Handicapped parking is unlabeled (signs are bleached white), the Access ramps/curb cuts are too narrow and are blocked by dumpsters, sidewalks have stairs/steps, houses have a step up to get into them.

No Ramps, no handicapped parking (unless you ask them then its on the side of the building inside the fence, and the handicapped entrance is through the lumber storage building at the back of the main building, law plainly states, Handicapped parking must be the closest parking to the main entrance and its the main entrance that has to be accessible)

No handicapped parking, No ramp have to go off into gravel at side of main entrance to get on sidewalk, door has a 2 inch step up and door is too hard to open, some Aisles blocked so you have to back out. Steps to the rifles... so no way someone in a chair can look at them.

almost all of Strong Blvd, has no curb cuts.

Jefferson PreSchool

Wheel chair ramp is way too narrow, the handicapped door is behind a locked fence, the doors the hydrolic system is way too hard to pull open, parking spaces too narrow.

William Gay Elementary

Wheel chair ramp is too narrow, the handicapped door is too hard to open, there are 2 sets of parking spaces, one set is way to narrow.
