Does anyone know anything about the two guys who are always panhandling in front of WalMart? I thought that it was illegal to panhandle in McAlester. What's their stories? Are they scam artists or do they really need help?
Let's put it this way, go to the casino after their "working hours" and see where your money is going. They work in shifts, smoke cigarettes and talk on cell phones when they think no one is looking. hmmmmm
High end bums, won't work, lazy, useless, and generally rude SOB's. Scammers from the word go. Work is the last thing they want. Look for the white van with the I brake for idiots stickers on the back near where they are scamming people. Nice shoes, nice clothing, laminated sign, piss poor ethics.
Read Opinion #10229 - this issue was discussed there - one of the guys begging for handouts is a lot better off than many people in this town, he has found a money pit at the mercy of innocent kind people who think he is needy. He should be arrested for fraud and embezzlement but the city doesn't do anything about it supposedly because he is on private property.
Where do these bums live? People should call city hall and see if there is something that can be done to get them off the streets.
Countdown, His name is Kenny Baker. His nick name is (LONEWOLF). The MPD officer told him he was not allowed to stand on that corner because it distracts the traffic. But he is allowed to go into Wal-Mart parkinglot and stand out there on one of the grassy areas and they could not do anything to him. That statement come from Kenny Baker himself. Because thats private property. In my opinion if thats private property then how can the MPD write sitations on the parking? As far as Kenny Baker he lives in a big travel trailor out where the super 8 motel is. His little wife or girlfriend works at Arby's and drawls a check every month and so does Kenny.
Note, parking lots are under MPD oversight for proper use. Zoning regs, etc. Parking lots are for public use unless setup for private access only -- closed gates, signs, etc. Something could be done if Walmart management complained or put up a 'No Loitering' sign.
I recommend we all photocopy say $20 bills but on the back side write, "This is fake because you're a fake". Maybe they'll take the hint.
